Getting Your Acts Together

September 4, 2018

Whether you are writing fiction, Non-Fiction, a memoir, or are just into creative writing this is the podcast for you. This podcast is more than just about how to write as we cover the why’s, when’s, and where’s of writing. Shelly Devlin, Mandra Biscornet, and Deborah Monk discuss how to craft your story’s arc through 3 acts including Plot Point one, Plot Point Two, and Midpoint

  • Plot point One

    • Moves you from act 1 to act 2
    • Often the start of the main character’s journey
    • The point of no return the character can not back out of the central conflict
  • Midpoint
    • Main character turns from reactive to proactive
    • He/She gets some of the information to prepare themselves for the “black moment”
  • Plot Point 2
    • This is when all seems lost for the hero of the story
    • This is the transition for act 3 which is the story’s resolution
